Jonathan Rhys Meyers hospitalized after possible suicide attempt

“The Tudors” star Jonathan Rhys Meyers was hospitalized Tuesday, and there are conflicting reports that he tried to commit suicide. The Sun in Britain is reporting that he overdosed on pills, but a source tells Usmagazine.com that it was relapse.”

The actor was found unresponsive on the floor of his home in London, the Sun reports.

Meyers’ struggles with alcohol abuse have been well documented — he was arrested in 2007 and 2009 for drunken attacks in airports in Dublin and Paris, respectively, and has been in rehab several times. He was discharged Wednesday from the hospital.

Nicolas Cage arrested in Big Easy

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Actor Nicolas Cage was arrested after he got drunk in the city’s French Quarter and argued in the street with his wife over whether a house they were in front of was theirs, police said Saturday.

The couple was in front of a home that Cage insisted they were renting, police said. When she said it wasn’t theirs, Cage grabbed her arm, according to a police news release.

Cage started hitting vehicles and tried to get into a taxi, police said. An officer saw that Cage was drunk and told him to get out of the cab. Cage then started yelling at the officer.

The actor has been booked on charges of domestic abuse battery, disturbing the peace and public drunkenness.

People: Prince William and Kate draw cheers in Canada, while some in Britain mourn Diana

Prince William and Kate joined in Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa on Friday, often stealing the show as they were feted by Canadian leaders and cheered by tens of thousands who lined the streets of the Canadian capital to get a glimpse of them.

The crowd — many dressed in Canada’s red and white colors — exploded in prolonged cheering and chants of “Will and Kate, Will and Kate.” A few wore homemade crowns in a nod to the royals.

In his speech marking Canada’s 144th birthday, the prince talked of his and Kate’s family ties to Canada, and referred to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, as “the queen of Canada,” since she remains Canada’s head of state, drawing a loud cheer from the crowd.
