He tweeted said: “I hate f***ing tweeting, it’s for d**ks.“I only do it when something needs to be cleared up. I hate it. Ive been thinking about my New Years reading resolutions and came to the conclusion that Id probably be safer either not making any at all or just not telling you guys what they are. Looking at my track record its easy to see why Im going down this particular path. Remember late last year and my saying that Id read The Heroes before the end of the year? We all know how that one turned out dont we… And how about the year before when I was all full of Im definitely going to read The Anubis Gates…? I really need to pick that up and give it another try. So Im keeping quiet about what I want to get read in 2012; especially when I picked out a whole load of books that looked interesting and ended up going with something that wasnt on that pile at all. “Larry Crowne” serves as a reminder that you can have two of the most likable, bankable stars on the planet together, but strong writing is crucial to making them shine.
Even the combined, blinding brilliance of Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts can’t salvage the corny, contrived script — which Hanks, who also directed the film, co-wrote. His longtime friend Nia Vardalos (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding”) was his collaborator, and the shticky nature of her style is just overpowering.
Main characters behave in unbelievable ways and say just the right poignant things at just the right times; meanwhile, supporting players are relegated to one-note roles that are straight out of a sitcom, like Cedric the Entertainer and Taraji P. H
